echo "SELECT columns FROM table_name WHERE whatever='something'" | /path/to/mysql -uUSERNAME -pPASSWORD DATABASENAME > /tmp/outfile.txt;
2.B. Using an external SQL file.
/path/to/mysql -uUSERNAME -pPASSWORD DATABASENAME < /tmp/sql.sql > /tmp/outfile.txt;
